‘Spidey and his Amazing Friends': Actor John Stamos reveals reason for taking up Iron Man's role. Here’s what he said

Disney Junior is coming up with an animated series that would star Iron Man, among other MCU characters. Titled ‘Spidey and his Amazing Friends', the series has roped in John Stamos as the voice of Iron Man.

Why did Stamos agree to give his voice to Iron Man's character?
Stamos was asked why he chose to give his voice to the character of Iron Man, which Robert Downey Jr. has immortalized. To this, Stamos replied that he did it for his son as he wanted to be a hero in his son’s eyes.
Stamos explained that when he was offered the role of Iron Man, he immediately took it up. He said that he gave a deep thought about it. He knew that Robert Downey Jr. was a genius in how he portrayed the character. Stamos accepted that he would not be able to do what Downey Jr. did. However, he would give his flavor to the character.
Stamos also stated that his father was his superhero. Though children grow up and start believing that their fathers were also human, he did not. He continued to believe his father to be a superhero. So, he also wanted to be a superhero for his son. Since his son loves the show ‘Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Stamos said that his reprisal of Iron Man might make him a hero for his son.



What does his son think of Stamos?
Despite his efforts, Stamos admitted that his son didn’t believe him to be cool. Citing an example, Stamos said that when the Beach Boys started playing on their car stereo, he asked his son whether he was remarkable since he played with them. His son, however, didn’t think so. Instead, he asked whether Stamos knew the Beatles.
