Spider-Man 4: Sony hints on potential release date

Prior to No Way Home's release last December, people started talking about Spider-Man 4. Now, Amy Pascal, a former Sony executive, claimed Spider-Man 4 was in the works at the time. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige corroborated Pascal’s assertions by adding they were "actively beginning to develop where the story heads."

Sony Pictures has since released a number of encouraging updates regarding Spider-Man 4, starring Holland. The release date of the sequel is still unknown, but a previous rumor suggests that it is supposedly targeting a July 2024 timeline.




Tom Rothman, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures, briefly addressed the release date rumours of the upcoming live-action Spider-Man movie in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. When asked if it is obvious that the Web-Slinger will return in live-action once Across the Spider-Verse introduces thousands of animated Spideys to the big screen, Rothman said, "You bet" making the rumored July 2024 release date for Spider-Man 4 certainly plausible.

This is also consistent with Holland's intention to rest before making his eventual MCU comeback as Spider-Man. Being only two and a half years after No Way Home, the speculated July 2024 release date for Spider-Man 4 is absolutely conceivable. But in order to make that happen, production would have to start at some point in 2023.

Holland's leave of absence appears to have been completed as of now in 2022, making 2023 as the most likely year for him to return to work as Spider-Man in the MCU. Even so, everything will depend on how its script is developed, especially as Spider-Man 4 hasn't yet received any further casting or plot announcements.
