While people dream of buying a house, one could purchase an entire village. A Spanish village called Salto de Castro in the Zamora province on the Portugal border, and it is a three-hour drive away from Madrid in Spain. The village includes a hotel, school, church, 44 homes, a swimming pool and civil guard barracks. It is located on a hilltop and overlooks the Arribes del Duero natural park.
Unoccupied for Over 30 Years
The village has been listed for sale for a sum of 227,000 Euros which equals Rs. 2.1 crore. It has not been occupied for over three decades. The current owner of the village bought it in the early 2000s. The purchase aimed to make the abandoned village a tourist attraction. But the plans were disrupted by the eurozone crisis. The owner had planned to convert the destination into a hotel, but it did not happen.
