SpaceX successfully launched 28 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit aboard its Falcon 9 rocket, adding to its expanding constellation of internet satellites. The launch, which took place from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, marked the company’s 16th mission of the month - tying its record set in May for the most launches in a single month.

Designated Starlink 11-20, the mission deployed the satellites just over an hour after liftoff. SpaceX used one of its most frequently flown boosters, B1063, which completed its 28th mission. The veteran rocket previously supported launches such as NASA’s DART, Transporter-7, and Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich.

What is SpaceX?

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, founded SpaceX in 2002. The company, headquartered at Starbase in South Texas near the US-Mexico border, has become a hub for testing its massive 400-foot Starship rocket.

SpaceX carries out frequent rocket launches, primarily using its workhorse Falcon 9, from sites in California and Florida. These missions include the regular deployment of Starlink internet satellites into orbit, as well as occasional privately funded crewed flights aboard its Dragon spacecraft.
