SpaceX has postponed its planned Starlink satellite launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, originally set for early Monday morning. The launch will now take place on Tuesday, February 6, at 3:37 a.m. EST. This delay comes as the National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory, warning of low visibility across East-Central Florida.

Why the SpaceX starlink launch delayed?

While SpaceX did not provide an official reason for the postponement, the thick fog and poor visibility likely played a role. The National Weather Service reported that visibility had dropped to a quarter-mile or less, creating challenging conditions for the launch.

Despite the morning delay, SpaceX is still moving forward with another important mission on Monday evening. A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off between 6:32 p.m. and 7:32 p.m. EST from NASA's Kennedy Space Center. This mission will carry two WorldView Legion imagery satellites, built by Maxar Space Systems, into orbit.

Unlike the Starlink mission, the Monday evening launch will involve a first-stage booster returning to land at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This means people in the area should be prepared for sonic booms, a common effect when rockets re-enter the atmosphere and slow down for landing.

The 45th Weather Squadron of the U.S. Space Force has predicted a greater than 95% chance of favorable weather for the Monday evening launch. This is a positive sign that the mission will proceed as scheduled.
