SpaceX is all set to send its latest batch of Starlink satellites into lower Earth orbit, with a launch scheduled for Monday (January 27) afternoon from Space Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, officials said.

The liftoff is expected to take place at 3:22 p.m. EST, with a launch window extending through 6:21 p.m. SpaceX has also announced an additional launch opportunity for January 28 at 2:50 p.m. if Monday's mission is scrubbed.

The Space Force 45th Weather Squadron predicted a 95% chance of favourable weather, with a small chance of a Cumulus Cloud Rule violation.

Mission details and payload information

This marks SpaceX's 12th mission of the year. The payload includes 21 Starlink satellites, 13 of which have direct-to-cell capabilities. The payload will be carried into space on a Falcon 9 rocket, with the first stage of the rocket making its 20th launch.

The first-stage booster, making its 20th flight, is expected to autonomously return to Earth roughly eight minutes after launch and land on the drone ship A Shortfall of Gravitas in the Atlantic Ocean.

After separating from the second stage, the first stage will perform a flip manoeuvre to send it back to Earth, followed by two engine burns. The final burn will slow it down so it can make a soft landing on the drone ship.

Just a few days ago, a SpaceX Starship rocket disintegrated in space shortly after launch from Texas. The incident disrupted airline routes over the Gulf of Mexico to avoid falling debris and caused a setback for Elon Musk's flagship rocket programme, according to a report in Fox Business.
