He stated that he should be able to design aircraft, not spreadsheets. Calhoun, who graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in accounting, announced his retirement despite continued problems such as the Boeing 737 Max 9 door plug breaking in midair. This caused discussions about whether Boeing should give preference to a candidate with engineering experience for its next CEO within the aviation sector, as reported by 'Yahoo News.'
