U.S. futures were mixed on Thursday after Wall Street retreated, dragged down by falls in Big Tech stocks. The future for the S&P 500 gained less than 0.1 per cent on Thursday, while that for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell less than 0.1 per cent. S&P 500 e-mini futures up 0.17 per cent, Nasdaq 100 futures up 0.41 per cent, Dow futures remained flat.

The S&P 500 sank 0.5 per cent Wednesday for its second straight loss after setting its all-time high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.1 per cent, and the Nasdaq composite lost 1 per cent.

For the week, S&P 500 is down 39.68 points, or 0.6 per cent, Dow is down 354.44 points, or 0.7 per cent. Nasdaq is down 199.60 points, or 0.8 per cent. Russell 2000 is up 27.41 points, or 1 per cent. Big Tech stocks were among those weighing on performance -- even as the majority of stocks on Wall Street rose -- in part as investors dialed back from the artificial intelligence frenzy and as some critics warned their stocks had become overvalued.

Shares of Nvidia declined 1.4 per cent, and chip maker Broadcom fell 4.2 per cent. Shares at several banks also fell. Wells Fargo sank 4.6 per cent after it reported weaker-than-expected quarterly profit and revenue. Bank of America was down 3.8 per cent, and Citigroup slipped 3.3 per cent.

Exxon Mobil and other oil companies were among those keeping the S&P 500 from heavier losses. Exxon Mobil was up 2.9 per cent, and Chevron rose 2.1 per cent.
