People in the United States are suffering under the havoc of the Bomb Cyclone as the heavy snowstorm has created massive destruction in several areas. As the historic winter storm has hit people living in the US, it has also caused disruptions in the holiday season. In the wake of the blizzard, thousands of flights have been cancelled, leaving people baffled. One of the majorly affected airlines was Southwest Airlines as they struggled to navigate the Christmas holiday rush.

According to flight tracker FlightAware, Southwest cancelled more than 2,900 flights on Monday—at least 70 per cent of its daily program—and more than 2,500 flights on Tuesday—at least 60 per cent of its schedule. The delays worsen the confusion that has left travellers trapped at airports around the nation, many of whom have no idea how long it will be before they can return home or find their luggage.

The second-highest flight cancellation was recorded by Delta airlines as they cancelled at least 265 flights. Meanwhile, a large-scale cancellation was ordered by other airlines last week. Chris Perry, a spokeswoman for Southwest's airlines, told NPR that the residual impacts of the winter storm are to blame for the airline's delays and that the company wants to "stabilise and improve its business" with better weather.
