South Korea’s DRX becomes League of Legends world champions, beats T1 in finals

South Korean team DRX was crowned League of Legends global champions on Saturday following a dramatic 3-2 victory against compatriots T1 in the eSports competition final in San Francisco. T1, the most successful eSports team in history, began as favourites and quickly claimed the lead in the opening round of the competition.

However, DRX took control following a series of upsets, thanks in large part to Kim Zeka Geon-woo, 19-year-old. The talented Kim Deft Hyuk-kyu, 26-year-old, who began competing in 2014 but had only made it through the quarterfinals once previously, also in 2014, was eagerly awaiting their first-ever victory.
