What appeared to be randomized, faked spam texts is rapidly looking like a targeted attack on Verizon Wireless, one of the country's top telecommunications companies. The carrier acknowledged today that it is aware of the problem and is investigating it with the assistance of US law authorities.

So, this occurred just a few weeks ago. A Verizon client received this strange spam text message, which basically said, "Thanks for clearing your payment for the month of March. Here's a unique present for you with a haphazard link and this is what they found strange about it. Her phone number was the source of the call. And it didn't seem to be just her. This might have happened to anyone who is connected to the Verizon Wireless network. She tells a tale about it that everybody can understand. Verizon has stated that it is attempting to stop the spam texts that users claim they have received from their own phone numbers.

According to Verizon, its staff is actively working to ban these communications, and it has partnered with US law authorities to locate and halt the origin of the potential fraud. A lot of this started recently when some Verizon customers complained about receiving spam SMS on the phone carrier's community site. They also observed a lot of it propagate via social media, such as Twitter, Reddit, and other sites where junk messages appear. And they're calling from their own phone number. So, just a reminder, if you get this, it's odd because it almost looks like Verizon is informing them they've paid their bill upon first glance, but that's not the situation.

You can flag it as trash, which will submit it to Verizon, remove it from your phone, and you'll be good to go. However, this is a unique twist on the phishing spam text messages that you may receive, as it appears to be happening more frequently lately. Spam phone calls, junk text messages It's extremely aggravating when your own phone number appears on the list. And, of course, the first question that comes to mind when you do this is: am I reporting my own phone number as junk mail? I've received no evidence that this is the case. But, once again, this is something to be aware of.
