Dozens of schools and institutions in Massachusetts and New Hampshire have announced closures or delayed starts on Monday (February 3) as overnight snowfall slowed down the morning commute across cities.

Forecasters had earlier predicted a slow morning commute across several areas in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, warning of slick spots, majorly on the side roads.

"With temperatures slowly climbing thanks to warm advection, most main roads will be wet,” according to the National Weather Service.

Closed: St. James Armenian Apostolic Church (Bingo cancelled), Hampton Falls NH (No AM pre-school), Mansfield Public Schools (No AM pre-school), North Hampton NH (No AM pre-school), Plymouth Public Schools (No AM pre-school), Seabrook NH (No AM pre-school), Southbridge Public Schools (No AM pre-school), Timberlane NH School District (No AM Kindergarten), Whittier Regional Vocational Technical H.

2. Delayed openings: Abby Kelley Foster Charter School (delayed by 2 hours), Dennis-Yarmouth Regional (delayed by 2 hours), Derry Cooperative School District (delayed by 2 hours), Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District (delayed by 1 hour), Hampton Falls NH (delayed by 2 hours), Hampton School District SAU 90 (delayed by 2 hours), Lunenburg Public Schools (delayed by 2 hours), Mansfield Public Schools (delayed by 1 hour), Merrimack School District NH (delayed by 2 hours), North Hampton NH (delayed by 2 hours), North Middlesex Regional Schools (delayed by 2 hours), Plymouth Public Schools (delayed by 2 hours), Rising Tide Charter School (delayed by 2 hours) and Seabrook NH (delayed by 2 hours).

In Massachusetts, satellite trends indicate clouds will probably hang tough through the morning across interior areas, but are expected to subsidence behind departing
short wave.

Despite cloud cover, the temperature in the region will hover around 40s near coast and across higher terrain.

The National Weather Service stated that milder air is expected throughout the day with above normal temperatures. It will be followed by a strong cold front that is expected to pass through the state late today.
