Sporting a bold red, white, and blue track suit adorned with his name and the iconic NBC peacock logo, the hip hop icon revealed his Paris game plan, promising to "mix it up in various ways, bringing my own flavor to the table."
"I'll be out there in the field, immersed in events, traversing the city, doing things the Snoop Dogg way," he declared during a Television Critics Association gathering.
Snoop and comedian Kevin Hart teamed up to provide entertaining narration for Olympic highlights showcased on the Peacock streaming service during the 2021 summer games, which were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In one memorable clip, Snoop marveled at the agility of athletes in an equestrian event, describing it as "off the chain," while pondering, "how did the horses make it to Tokyo?"
"I'm either going to get a promotion or kicked out," quipped Molly Solomon, NBC's Olympics production executive producer and president, regarding Snoop's inclusion in prime time broadcasts.
Scheduled from July 26 to Aug. 11, the Paris Olympics will feature live coverage of marquee events like gymnastics and swimming during the day, followed by recaps in prime time on NBC, a subsidiary of Comcast.
Snoop assured he'd be well-prepared for his unconventional role.
"I never come unprepared. I'm always on fire," he assured. "No need to fret about research. I've got the lowdown on everyone. It's going to be a blast."
Reflecting on a more solemn note, the musician expressed his honor in participating at the Olympics, viewing it as a moment of global harmony.
"I'm all about spreading peace," he affirmed.
