Singer Taylor Swift's forthcoming album 'Midnights' announced at MTV VMAs 2022

American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has announced the release of her forthcoming record, Midnights, while accepting the Video of the Year award at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) 2022 on Sunday. She thought this award acceptance moment was the perfect time to announce that her "brand-new album" comes out on October 21, also adding that she has more to tell her fans "at midnight."

Then at midnight on Instagram, she shared the cover art for the album Midnights, where she featured two photos. In the first one, she’s sparking a lighter while having red lipstick and wearing blue sparkly eyeshadow.

In the other image, she’s sitting in a dimly lit room holding her head in her hand. This image had a superimposed passage that read, "We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears... mistakes". Taylor Swift also added in the passage that this new album, Midnight, is a collection of music that was written at midnight and that it portrays a journey through terrors as well as sweet dreams.

Speculations around the new album, Midnight, from fans of Taylor Swift:

Though Taylor Swift’s new album seems to be full of new material, many fans felt that the Midnight album could be a re-recorded version of her Reputation album, released in 2017, because of Swift’s dropping a lot of Easter eggs throughout the VMAs.



Taylor Swift has released her own versions of Red (2012) and Fearless( 2008) over the last two years in an effort to reclaim her music from Scooter Braun, her former manager, who in 2019 bought her masters from Big Machine Records, her former record label.
There are hints in the Midnight album about a possible re-recording of the Reputation track.

Her award acceptance speech where she said "we did something right" and so won the award which rang a bell for the line "I did one thing right" in "Call It What You Want," Reputation track.

Her sparkly attire at VMAs resembles the dress she wore in the "Look What You Made Me Do," music video perhaps the biggest clue.
The release date of Taylor Swift’s new album at midnight also falls on the birthday of Kim Kardashian, who is the inspiration behind Reputation, and all the snake emojis are levelled at her as per rumors.
