Krysten Sinema expressed her support for addressing climate change, striking a deal with the Democrats in 2021 to lower the costs of prescription drugs. However, she resisted the provision of closing the carried interest loophole, and it allowed financial firms to pay less tax on earnings.

On Wednesday, the deal between Senator Joe Manchin and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer surprised many caucus members. Most of them had found out about it by the press release by Manchin. The Senate Democrats are optimistic that they will get the support of Sinema and all 50 members in the end. One person who spoke to Krysten said that Sinema was frustrated due to not being looped in.
Another person, who had a conversation with her said that Sinema was utterly shocked. The Republicans believe that Sinema is their only realistic chance of not letting the deal go through and stopping it.
Sen. John Cornyn added that Sinema was not consulted as he worked with her last month to pass a bipartisan gun safety bill. He also said he knows he can trust Sinema whenever she tells him anything. He also said he believed he could not trust anyone else as people there routinely lie about things.
The Democrats held a private caucus meeting on Thursday to discuss the deal.
