Shown the door: Olivia Nuzzi sacked by New York magazine following RFK Jr. sexting scandal

Following a flurry of sensationalized reports about the celebrity Washington correspondent's romance with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Olivia Nuzzi is quitting New York magazine.

New York stated on their website that there was no indication of bias in any of Nuzzi's reporting during the 2024 campaign, according to an external investigation.

The statement calls the 31-year-old a uniquely talented writer, but the magazine and Nuzzi agreed that the best course forward is to part ways, as quoted in a report by the New York Post.


Due to the affair, which included a protracted sexting tryst, Nuzzi and her journalist ex-fiance Ryan Lizza are currently embroiled in a contentious legal dispute.

Last month, Nuzzi filed a no-contact order against Lizza, alleging that he was blackmailing her over the affair and had compromised her devices.

According to later court filings submitted to the Superior Court in Washington, DC, Lizza, 50, portrayed Nuzzi as a lost and heartbroken lover who frantically attempted to keep their engagement intact after he broke it off.

According to the filing, he claimed that after discovering that Nuzzi had been seeing her nearly 40-year-old senior, RFK Jr., for nearly a year, he confronted her and ended their engagement on August 17.

Nuzzi informed him that RFK Jr. desired to possess, control, and impregnate her.

Lizza asserted that Nuzzi's own heartfelt confessions during her attempt to win him back were the only source of information he knew about the affair with Kennedy, who is married to actress Cheryl Hines, according to the New York Post.

Politico's chief Washington correspondent, Lizza, who is currently on leave from the magazine's well-known and significant Playbook, denied that he gave her editor or the media information about the relationship and denied her claims of hacking.

Lizza's story of the relationship was refuted by RFK Jr., and Nuzzi's attorney referred to the document as full of salacious and irrelevant claims.
