Heated Call Sparked Bteween Donald Trump And Benjamin Netanyahu Over His Denial of Starvation in Gaza
The conversation, which took place on July 28, quickly escalated after Trump challenged Netanyahu’s public denial that starvation was occurring in Gaza, as per an Independent report. The Israeli prime minister had told attendees at an event in Jerusalem just a day earlier, saying, “There is no policy of starvation in Gaza. And there is no starvation in Gaza,” as quoted in the report. But while on a trip to Scotland, Trump saw things differently, saying that he had seen pictures of children in Gaza who “look very hungry,” adding that the area is suffering from “real starvation” and “you can’t fake that,” as quoted by the Independent.
This led Netanyahu to demand a phone call with Trump, which was arranged just hours later, but instead of easing tensions, the call only intensified it, according to the report.

As per the Independent, the call led into a shouting match as Netanyahu insisted that Hamas had fabricated the images to gain sympathy, but Trump interrupted him and began yelling, stating he had been personally shown credible evidence by his staff that children were indeed starving and didn’t want to hear the assertion that the starvation was fake.
One former US official briefed on the exchange described the call as “direct,” but added it was “mostly a one-way conversation” with Trump doing most of the talking, as reported by the Independent. The official pointed out that “The U.S. not only feels like the situation is dire, but they own it because of GHF,” referring to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, according to the report.
