Shots fired near University of Florida campus; barricaded suspect contained, no victims reported

Gainesville campus of University of Florida woke up to gunshots on Tuesday Morning, with the institution quickly releasing an alert, officials told US media outlets.

The shots were heard at 9th Terrace, 102 NW, which is meters away from college campus. Reports said that the suspected shooter was contained at an off campus location, but is still hiding in a barricaded building and not coming out.

Alerts on traffic were also released, asking commuters to avoid University Avenue area, which is one of the centers for University activities even if it’s at some distance from the campus.
