Shogun season 2 has been one of the most anticipated shows with reports surrounding that makers FX are planning for two more installments. However, with James Clavell's novel of the same name finishing without any sequel, apprehensions are raised over the source material for second season.

Limited series such as Shogun face the risk of a decline in quality if additional seasons are produced unnecessarily. Originally crafted with a specific narrative arc in mind, these series often shine due to their concise storytelling and focused character development. Extending the series beyond its intended scope can dilute the plot, weaken character arcs, and ultimately compromise the integrity that made the original series compelling. Thus, preserving the initial vision is crucial to maintaining the high standards and impact of such limited series, as per a report on ScreenRant.

Streaming services often focus on extending successful shows rather than exploring new projects, but Shogun stands out as a series that doesn't require a second season. The show has effectively covered its source material and thoroughly explored its themes, making additional seasons unnecessary. By concluding the story as originally intended, Shogun maintains its narrative integrity and impact, ScreenRant reported.

Based on Clavell's 1975 novel, "Shogun" stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis and Anna Sawai in lead roles.

The show, which premiered in February and wrapped the first season in April this year, is set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war.

Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) is fighting for his life as his enemies on the Council of Regents unite against him, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village.
