Shania Twain's documentary 'Not Just A Girl' releases on Netflix. Find out why is it special

People know much about the discography of music sensation Shania Twain, but not many people know much about the insights into her personal life. However, a new Netflix documentary titled "Not Just A Girl", which was released on July 26, shows vicissitudes of fortune and delves into her private life, including her previous and current marriages.

The documentary also shows how Shania Twain shot to fame with her album "Come On Over," of which 20 million copies were sold globally. Apart from this, the documentary also covers her less glamorous and private life and her battle with Lyme disease.

The most attention-grabbing part of the documentary has to be the part that describes Shania Twain's divorce from her ex-husband, the 73-year-old music producer Robert John ‘Mutt’ Lange. After dating for six months and working together professionally, Mutt and Shania got married in 1993. They also have a 20-year-old son, Eja (pronounced as Asia). Shania raised Eja in Switzerland after her much-talked-about problem with vocal cords.




Shania and Mutt ended their 14-year-old marriage in 2008 after realising that Mutt was having an affair with her friend and personal assistant, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. It was during this time that Shania was also suffering from damaged vocal cords due to her struggle with Lyme disease. Shania learned of her husband's infidelity from her current husband, Frederic Thiebaud, who was married to Marie-Anne at the time.

In the documentary, Shania Twain also described the pain of losing her husband, which she termed similar to the death of a loved one. Shania later married Frederic Thiebaud, a 51-year-old businessman from Switzerland, in 2011. Both Shania and Frederic have built up a strong connection that started on the grounds of friendship and grew into love.
