Shadow and Bone, Glamorous among 5 shows canceled on Netflix, know why

There is a bit of bad news for the fans of Shadow and Bone and Glamorous, as these series will not be returning with new seasons on Netflix. Besides the adult animated series Agent Elvis, Farzaar, and Captain Fall will not have new seasons, which was confirmed by Variety.

The announcements come as Hollywood streamers and broadcasters are still assessing the impact of the strike calls given by WGA and SAG-Aftra which lasted for months and stopped the work.

According to media reports, Netflix has cited several reasons for canceling the shows including performance and impact from the strike on production schedules and shifts and others.


As it has stated on past cancellations, Netflix continues to compare the price of a show to its viewing quantity when making its ratings. Some television programs, such as Agent Elvis, Glamorous, Farzaar, and Captain Fall, were canceled after just one season. In contrast, Shadow and Bone was canceled after airing its second season, which debuted in March on streaming services.

Based on the Grishaverse novel by Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone, the Netflix adaptation follows the journey of Alina Sarkoff on how she struggles with her sudden transition from being an orphan to becoming a savior of Ravka.

It may be noted that, despite the show garnering a good audience, Netflix has decided to cancel the series which has now sparked a video game franchise.

Meanwhile, the animated series Captain Fall was originally picked for 20 episodes which was to air in two parts in the first season. But Netflix decided to drop the series after Part 1 could not garner a large audience.

Netflix is still making investments in adult animation, with former HBO Max executive Billy Wee serving as director of animation, despite the termination of other well-known animated programs including Disenchantment, Inside Job, Q Force, and Big Mouth, which is coming to an end with Season 8, slated for release at some point in 2024.

Meanwhile, Netflix has ordered renewals for -- One Piece, Ginny & Georgia, Outer Banks, The Lincoln Lawyer, XO, Kitty, Heartstopper, The Night Agent, The Diplomat, FUBAR, Sweet Magnolias, and Castlevania: Nocturne.
