An iconic film named the ‘Seven Samurai’ which has been directed by Akira Kurosawa is hitting the US theaters in the 4K restored format. This has been reported by 'Deadline'. The film is considered to have influenced hit movies such as 'Star Wars', The 'Hateful Eight' and 'John Wick' among others. The restored film, which made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, will hit the theaters in the US providing an opportunity to the new generation audience as well as take the older fans on to a journey of nostalgia. Storyline
The film is set in the Sengoku period of Japanese history which witnessed many civil wars and social strife. It was the period between the 15th and 16th century. This was when Europe was going through ‘dark ages’. The story follows a group of desperate farmers in a village who have been ransacked by bandits who continue to conduct raids on the villages and trouble the villagers into submission. Just when the villagers wonder whether there is any solution to these marauders, they hire a Samurai to combat the gang of bandits.


The samurais in Japan were a class of feudal lords who were expert warriors and commanded a high position in Japanese society. Further, the Samurai who they hire has fallen on hard times and is looking for a comeback. Once, he agrees to help the villagers, he hires another six people to train the villagers to defend themselves. How do the poor and innocent villagers compete against a bunch of bandits? While many traits are inherited at birth, there is nothing that cannot be learned. These villagers defend themselves against the 40 bandits and push them back successfully. How do they do it? One would need to watch the movie.

It will be released on July 5 in New York, followed by a Los Angeles release on July 7 and a wide release on July 12.
