Serious accident averted during Argentina's World Cup winners' parade, narrow escape for Lionel Messi, 4 others
Argentina won the FIFA World Cup 2022, which was held in Qatar. Their triumphant return home nearly turned into a disaster during the open-top bus parade.

On Tuesday, just after 2 a.m. local time, Lionel Messi and his teammates arrived at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires. Thousands of spectators lined the streets, eager to see the World Cup trophy.
The team boarded a specially designed coach to travel to the Argentine Football Association training facility after descending from their trip from Rome. After leaving the airport, the bus travelled through neighborhoods to celebrate the victory.
Messi and his companions were seated in the back of the bus' upper deck when they came dangerously close to suffering a head injury. The bus almost struck the famous athletes through an overhanging cable.

Four players quickly dove to escape the contact, but Paredes only just got his head underneath in time and lost his cap. It seemed as though the incident was immediately forgotten as the coach carried on its route, although it was a close call.
