Drew Griffin did not reveal the information about his illness to most of his co-workers until his death. Many of his colleagues paid their tributes and shared their memories and experience with Griffin. Michael Bass, CNN's Executive Vice President of Programming, said, "Fearless and artful at the same time, he knew how to push a story forward to its limits but also tell it in a way that would make everyone understand. It was an honour to be his colleague and witness to his work and how it changed the world."
