Nick Cannon‘s child support was discussed in Selling Sunset’s latest season which premiered on Friday, May 19, on Netflix. During Episode 7 of Selling Sunset Season 6, Amanza Smith asks whether, under California law, a parent is required to pay child support even after having 10 children.

Bre Tiesi quipped, "That’s true. The way it works is, like, after 10, the court can say he can’t afford to pay child support. Or because he is who he is, they could say, 'We know you can afford X amount for each household'."

What did Bre Tiesi’s lawyer say about child support?

After the conversation in the episode created a buzz, Bre Tiesi’s lawyer Neama Rahmani clarified that under California law, there’s no cap on child support based on the number of children. "Bre, you should know better!" the lawyer was quoted by US Weekly as saying. "That is absolutely not true. There’s no cap on child support based on the number of children. So, to the extent that Nick Cannon can have babies, he owes child support for those babies under California law," Rahmani said.

In another statement to Entertainment Tonight, Rahmani said that she was merely clarifying that Nick has a legal obligation to pay child support under California law and that she "didn’t address whether the mothers of his children have requested child support or whether Nick has paid it to Bre or others."

Reports say that under section 4055 of the California Family Code, the amount of child support required to be paid by the higher earner of a couple can be multiplied for up to 10 kids. Therefore, Tiesi might have applied the same to Nick’s case.
