Earlier this week, Selena Gomez shared an emotional video that seemed to respond to President Donald Trump's recent immigration crackdown. Gomez, whose paternal grandparents emigrated from Mexico, initially posted the video on Instagram Stories, sobbing amid mass deportations initiated by President Donald Trump over the weekend.

She spoke through tears in the video that her people were getting attacked. She criticized the Republican politician who said she should be deported.

Shortly after her video was posted, Sam Parker, a 2018 Republican Senate candidate from Utah, criticized it on his personal account on X. Sam Parker attacked Gomez on X, saying that because she is a "descendent" of illegally crossing Mexican immigrants, she favours undocumented immigrants over Americans.

"Like her illegal grandparents, she has an entitlement complex toward America. Perhaps Selena ought to be deported as well. He penned it. His own post, which he later quoted, said simply, "Deport Selena Gomez."
The 32-year-old Emilia Pérez star responded to Parker's post on Instagram.

Over a black backdrop, she wrote, "Oh, Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker," in a post on her Instagram Stories. Thank you for the threat and the laugh, as quoted in a report by NBC News.

The BBC reported that the "Calm Down" singer's post was made a day after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that 956 people had been arrested in a nationwide immigration crackdown, the most since Trump took office on January 20. The outlet reports that there were 593 arrests on Friday, 286 arrests on Saturday, and 956 arrests on Sunday.
