Musicians Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are celebrating their engagement, but Gomez recently admitted she almost did not go to the surprise proposal. The couple, who appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, admitted that their engagement day wasn’t as smooth as Blanco planned.

Selena Gomez, as per the reports, had no idea about the proposal and thought they were travelling for album promotions. She was not keen on the trip.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Selena Gomez admitted that she woke up confused about where the couple was headed because it seemed far. She said she was grumpy and tired, and told Benny that the location was too far. Gomez, as per the report, even told Blanco that she would meet her friends after the shoot to which he responded affirmatively.

Blanco Struggled to Keep the Secret

Reportedly, Blanco was struggling to keep the proposal a secret, especially since he usually tells Selena everything.

Blanco was quoted in the report saying that getting engaged to someone is the craziest thing in the world. “Right before you ask someone to marry them, they say ‘show me how good you can lie’,” he added and said it is the hardest thing in the world.

The music producer revealed that he was overwhelmed, particularly because Gomez seemed uninterested in the trip. Blanco revealed that Selena was mad; he also admitted that he had hidden the engagement ring in a bag hoping no one would find it. He said it was the scariest week of his life.

Wedding Plans Still on Hold

Even though the proposal was a whirlwind, the couple is not in any hurry to finalise the wedding plans yet. Gomez responded that she and Blanco aren’t planning anything presently. She, however, assured that music would feature prominently on their wedding day. Blanco joked that it would be his job.

New Album Chronicles Their Journey

The couple just dropped their debut joint album I Said I Love You First. The album was released on SMG Music, Friends Keep Secrets, and Interscope Records. The 15-track effort is their real-life and professional journey.

“The music was a lot of fun”, Selena said, adding that it was cathartic since they got to know each other on a deeper level.
