Searches for electric vehicles increase as gas prices skyrocket in the US
Electric Vehicles (EVs) have been selling at an albeit slow pace in the American market for a long time, but has the Government been able to drive the American mindset towards adopting this technology?

The Government certainly has to do more to increase sales of EVs so that Internal Combustible Engines (ICE) based vehicles can be replaced. But has the government been able to bring the American populace on the same page in the effort to boost EV sales? Certainly not at this moment!
Carbon emissions are still on the rise worldwide and USA is the 2nd highest contributor after China. The government has tried to increase the resource pool for alternative energy like wind and solar but has failed to cut dependence on polluting fossil fuels like coal. All the conversion drive to EVs would be meaningless if the source to generate electricity to power the vehicles is not changed. For the moment 61% of electricity in USA is generated from fossil fuels.
Just so that the government is able to meet the EV goal of 50% by the year 2030 it needs to offer more motivation to the American buyer. EVs have to be lower in price or at par with ICE based vehicles and certainly not sold for a premium, to begin with. Further, the Government can also think of equipping all shopping malls with charging stations apart from the usual gas pumps.
