The morning of May 22 began with testimony from George Kaplan, Combs’ former assistant, who described witnessing multiple violent incidents involving Combs. Kaplan told the jury he saw Cassie Ventura, Combs’ ex-girlfriend and a key witness, bruised and crying on several occasions.
He explained that he ultimately quit working for Combs because he could no longer “fix” the star’s violent outbursts. “In my heart of hearts I knew what was happening and I felt an element of guilt that I didn't do anything to stop it,” Kaplan said.
Makeup artist Mylah Morales also took the stand, recalling a 2010 incident at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Morales testified that she heard Combs yelling at Cassie and later saw her with a swollen eye and busted lip. Morales said Cassie stayed with her for several days to recover. She is now the fourth witness to testify about seeing Combs act violently toward women.
Defense Counters with Cassie’s Career Photos
In an attempt to counter the prosecution’s narrative, Combs’ defense team introduced a series of glamour photos of Cassie as evidence. The defense argued that these images, showing Cassie at photo shoots, music videos, and celebrity events, contradicted her claims that her career was stifled by Combs’ alleged “freak-off” sex parties. They also challenged the idea that Cassie maintained her appearance only for these parties, suggesting she was actively working in the entertainment industry. Some photos, including one of Cassie posing with a gun, were excluded after objections from prosecutors.
Kid Cudi’s Testimony
Later in the day, musician Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) briefly testified about his short relationship with Cassie and said he believed Combs threatened him and was involved in the firebombing of his car in 2012. He also recounted an awkward encounter with Combs, who denied any involvement.Looking Ahead
