Ahead of his sex trafficking trial, the legal team of Sean 'Diddy' Combs has filed a document in court seeking evidence recovered from multiple raids at his homes be suppressed.

The documents, submitted over the weekend in Manhattan federal court, state that the search warrant applications for his Los Angeles and Miami properties, as well as his iCloud accounts and phones, were excessively broad.

These excluded facts that might have favoured Diddy and “presented a grossly distorted picture of reality,” Page Six reported.

What Diddy's attorneys say?

In the filing, the lawyers alleged that the probable cause statements in the search warrant were deliberately misleading. They argued that this tactic allowed the government to secure the warrants and leak damaging information about Diddy. The document also stated that authorities later carried out military-style raids on Combs’ residences.

They have stated that some of the most obscene details that have been mentioned in the search warrant were from “Producer-1”. They have the individual's claims “were never credible.”

Although the court papers failed to mention what the unnamed person told the police, Diddy's lawyers have said that the individuals "relayed stories about his time working for Combs.”

Moreover, the latest court document states that “Producer-1” is yet to be called to testify as a witness for the upcoming trial. This delay is because the person's stories are "fantastical, and he lacks any credibility,” Diddy's lawyers said.

Diddy's lawyers question investigation

In the later warrants, the government dropped the allegations, but the lawyers argued that the claims lacked credibility from the start. They also criticised the government for failing to “disclose Producer-1’s financial incentive to fabricate and embellish.”

Calling the warrants against him “unconstitutionally broad,” the new court filing states that the charges against the disgraced music mogul “reflect an extraordinary legal theory.”

“The government essentially took the position that everything about his life is possible evidence of a crime,” Page Six reported, citing the court document.

In March last year, two properties belonging to Combs were raided by Homeland Security officials in relation to the sex trafficking investigation against him.

At that time, they seized several items that were allegedly used during his parties, including narcotics, as well as over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and three AR-15 rifles.

Combs was arrested last year in New York on multiple counts, while he pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to begin in May later this year.
