Scuba divers go 25-feet-deep into Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary to carve pumpkins underwater in Halloween competition
On the occasion of Halloween, scuba divers went 25-feet-deep into the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary during the competition of carving pumpkins underwater. The divers made exciting pieces of art from pumpkins.

The participants were challenged to keep the hollow pumpkins from floating while designing their art pieces from pumpkins with the help of dive knives and other sculpting tools. The team of Emily Beukers, Wahington, DC, and Miranda Potrie, Canada, made a carefully sculpted skull from pumpkins and impressed the judges. The duo won a diving trip at the Amoray Dive Resort.
There were a few other exciting entries, like a cat, a pirate wearing an eye patch with a knife between its teeth, a horrified ghoul, sea animals like jellyfish and octopus, and a jack-o-lantern worn as a helmet. The event was held five miles from Key Largo in the vicinity of Horseshoe Reef. The competition saw a big audience dressed as aquatic creatures.
