Leading golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested just before his game. He was in the police custody for an hour and he described his experience while seeing the humor in it.

Golfer Scottie Scheffler said that he had an incredible day on Friday after being arrested on his way to the golf course, reports the 'New York Post.' The world number Golf player was arrested just before the second round of the PGA Championship began at Louisville in Kentucky after he allegedly refused to comply with the orders of the local police.

What happened to the Golfer?

The local police said that Scottie Scheffler continued to drive towards the golf course even after being asked to stop. The police report said how the golfer dragged Detective Bryan Gillis to the ground before he was stopped.

The golfer has been charged with the second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals and the officer directing it.


He was arrested, fingerprinted and was in Police custody from 7:30 am. He was in the police custody for an hour. He was back at the golf course for his second round game which began at 10.08 am.

Experience of being detained?

While being in police custody is intimidating for anyone and the whole experience can be unnerving, the golfer saw the lighter side of the experience. He described the whole experience as some bit of tension and a lot of it was comical.

When he was being restrained by the police, he said how one of the officers joked and asked him whether he wants to experience a day in a jail. One of the officers offered him a sandwich which he immediately accepted.

In the one hour he was in custody, he did his warm-up and a bit of stretching and the officers around him cracked jokes. He was finally released and participated in the second round.

After the game, he was seen shaking hands with the police officers. It is believed that the charges will not stand against the golfer in the court of law.
