American convicted murderer Scott Peterson has been moved out of death row due to California Supreme Court ordering his pardon and sentenced to 20 more years in prison instead of a death sentence.

Scott Peterson has been moved to Mule Creek State Prison from San Quentin State Prison. Scott, now 50 years old, appeared in good health and with salt and pepper stubble.

Scott was issued the death penalty for killing his wife Laci and unborn child Conner by throwing his wife's body in the San Francisco Bay on Christmas Eve of 2002. The court had canceled the death penalty after knowing that jurors were improperly dismissed for opposing the death penalty.




However, the jurors said that though they opposed the death penalty, they would abide by the law and implement it. In 2021 the San Mateo County Superior Court Judge ruled that Scott would have to continue prison life without parole. To this, Sharon Rocha, Laci’s mother, said in court that irrespective of what happens in the future, Scott will continue to be the murderer of her daughter Laci and her unborn grandson Conner, and Laci and Connor will always be dead. This is never going to change, she said.

A state judge is now willing to consider Scott’s case as judges think he deserves a new trial as his jury team might have been influenced by a biased juror.

During the trial, which took a few weeks, Scott Petersen was kept in San Quentin to get timely and effective access to his lawyers.

Scott and Laci moved in together in 1996. In 2002, Laci got pregnant but went missing on December 24. Her body was found in April, 2003.
