Scooter now officially World’s Ugliest Dog, wins grand prize at California Fair
Scooter, a 7-year-old Chinese Crested dog with a bald body, reversed hind legs, and a lolling tongue, has been crowned the World's Ugliest Dog.

Scooter, the Chinese Crested dog is almost bald with reversed hind legs. He is beautifully captured at the event while his pink tongue may be dropping from his mouth. Moreover, he bagged the top prize of $1500 and a trophy.
Speaking about the event, it has been organizing this for over half-a-decade now, aiming to show that these dogs are uniquely beautiful. It celebrates “the imperfections that make all dogs special.”
Scooter reportedly once faced a brush with death due to his physical deformity. His biography on the contest’s website notes that he was born with two hind legs that were deformed which made walking a difficult task for him.
His life took a positive turn when a Savings Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) volunteer rescued him. The biography adds, “He knew that this pup might have a chance at finding a good home and a fairly normal life with the support of our rescue group.”
One of the judges, Catherine Liang shared with The New York Times, “In the cutest way possible, he kind of reminds me of a hairy hippopotamus."
