The school's students were dismissed early so that SWAT could comprehensively search the building. According to information provided by the Savannah Chatham County Public School System, emergency services have reportedly given the "all clear."

According to Sheila Blanco, a spokesperson for the Savannah County Comprehensive Public School System (SCCPSS), the county dispatch centre received a call at nine o'clock in the morning stating that six people had been shot at Savannah High School.

A significant number of roads in the vicinity of Savannah High School have been shut down as a result of an accident.

Authorities asked that parents picking up their children use the back door, which is located off Capital Street and can be accessed from President Street. The back door is located in the rear of the building.

One of the parents said she heard about the allegations while working and immediately ran. Rosario said that the school's lack of communication was "unacceptable." Additional parents had similar concerns.

In fact, teachers cited stress nearly twice as often as insufficient pay as a reason for quitting. Most former teachers went on to take jobs with less or equal pay, with 3 in 10 taking jobs with no health insurance or retirement benefits. COVID-19 appears to have exacerbated teachers' stress. Almost half of the public-school teachers who left the profession early and voluntarily since March 2020 listed COVID-19 as the main reason for their departure. COVID-19 has elevated stress by forcing teachers to work more hours and navigate an unfamiliar remote environment, made worse by frequent technical problems.
