Government minister blocks Lionel Messi training arrangement
Saudi officials ultimately rejected the proposal, with government leadership establishing clear boundaries for the league's purpose and positioning."But the government minister made it clear that the Saudi league would not serve as a preparation platform for other tournaments," Hammad stated.
The kingdom's sports officials view temporary signings as incompatible with their long-term vision, regardless of player caliber. This scheduling dichotomy creates opportunities for players seeking match fitness, though Saudi officials have now made clear such arrangements won't be accommodated.
