Santander Banking App Down: Users hit by outage, hundreds of customers unable to make payment
Santander customers started reporting problems with the bank's services around 12pm on Thursday, according to service status website Downdetector. More than half of these reports were related to issues with making payments on the bank’s website.

Santander issues apologies for inconvenience
“We’re aware that customers are currently unable to access some of our services. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing, and we are working hard to fix the problem as soon as possible,” Santander said on X."We would like to reassure our customers that no customer will be left out of pocket," it stated.
Reports suggest that 68 per cent of complaints are from customers who are unable to make instant payments, while 17 per cent customers are facing issues with processing card transactions.
According to new data published by the Treasury Committee, the nine biggest banks and building societies in the UK have experienced over 33 days of unplanned tech and system outages in the last two years.

What are the issues being faced by Santander's customers?
According to the Santander website, the bank is experiencing problems with mobile banking, telephone banking, technical issues within its branch network, and card payments. However, it confirmed that cash machines and online banking are operating as usual."We are currently facing intermittent issues making payments that we are working hard to resolve," the bank said in a message on the Santander website." If you face issues, please try again, and in case of continuing failures, please use Online Banking in the meantime."
The bank also issued similar updates regarding its telephone banking, branches, and card payment services. It mentioned that further updates would be provided to customers through its website and social media pages.

On social media, users reported various issues, including being unable to log in to their accounts or the bank's app, as well as difficulties with making payments or transferring funds.One user commented, "Santander, please sort out your mobile banking—I'm at a pub and can't even transfer money." Another said, "I can't transfer money from one Santander account to another. I hope you’re not going to charge me for being £3 overdrawn." A third customer mentioned, "I can't make bank transfers between accounts or to my payees. What's happening?"
