SAG Awards 2023: Here’s all you need to know

Although it may seem like everything is happening at once during awards season, the Screen Actors Guild Awards or SAG Awards only has one home: Netflix.

Because of a long-term agreement between Netflix and the SAG Awards, the event celebrating performances in cinema and television will be broadcast live on Netflix's YouTube channel for the first time ever.

So get your popcorn and get ready to vote because the 29th Annual SAG Awards will be broadcast live on Twitter, Facebook, and Netflix's YouTube channel on Sunday, February 26 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.




The SAG Awards event would seem more "intimate" if it is aired on Netflix's platforms, according to Awards Committee member and telecast producer, Elizabeth McLaughlin.

She explains to Tudum that "people want to feel connected to these performances and to these performers." Having the program available on Netflix's YouTube just simplifies the process.

The actress continues, "The SAG Awards are special in that we are the actors' celebration in actors' homes. Only your family and friends are there in that space.” This year, the level of that freedom and how performers may fully go loose at the SAG Awards will be dialled up to 11. We moved to a new house. I think we should rejoice now that we have a new home.



The celebrities themselves will fill the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles for the presentation, which is the only one where the actors alone decide the winners.

The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All at Once are this year's top film nominees, each receiving five accolades. These films also received nods in the outstanding ensemble category, which also went to Babylon, The Fabelmans, and Women Talking. With a total of four nominations, Ozark's last season received the most nominations for a television series.
