Earlier on October 11, the AMPTP surprised SAG-AFTRA by announcing a 'pause' in the talks as the sides were too far apart on key issues. AMPTP leadership was upset that four of the senior-most executives in Hollywood spent five full days in bargaining sessions with the AG-AFTRA leaders, but they failed to bridge the gaps.

The two sides have agreed to resume talks so that they could use the window of opportunity to shoot any new TV episodes or movies before the year ends. The industry insiders have aimed to conclude the negotiation earlier so that they could set the week of November 6 as a possible date to get some filming done. They want to quickly complete TV projects that were almost ready to roll when the WGA started strikes on May 2.
