Singer Sabrina Carpenter, who split from Barry Keoghan in December last year, dissed her former boyfriend while performing in Dublin.

While performing in Keoghan's hometown on Monday as part of her 'Short n’ Sweet' tour, Carpenter said that Irish boys are "hard work," Page Six reported.

What Sabrina Carpenter said?

Addressing the audience at her show in Dublin, the 25-year-old singer said that it was "so lovely" to be among them in the city, adding that they "look and sound amazing".

“But my goodness, these Irish boys are hard work,” Mirror quoted Carpenter as saying.

She seemingly took a jibe at her former boyfriend, who hails from Dublin's Summerhill.

After the remark, Carpenter started performing on her popular single, “Please Please Please”. Keoghan had appeared in the music video for the song, which was said to be about him.

Why did they part ways?

Carpenter and the 32-year-old actor decided to part ways in December 2024 after dating each other for nearly a year.

Back then, an insider told People magazine that Carpenter and Keoghan have “decided to take a break” amid their demanding schedules, adding that the two stars are "young and career-focused”.

However, there were rumours on social media that alleged that Keoghan cheated on Carpenter and was romantically linked to internet personality Breckie Hill.

Denying reports, Hill later clarified that she “did not get along" with the actor.

After being a victim of cyberbullying, the Dunkirk fame actor went on to deactivate his account on Instagram.

Barry Keoghan speaks up

On December 8 last year, Keoghan hit back at his critics and said that he could “only sit and take so much.”

He said his name was being dragged in ways that he usually does not respond to. But he decided to speak up since it was getting to a place "where there are too many lines being crossed.”

Keoghan hoped that nobody should ever have to read the kind of messages he has received. He noted that he deleted his Instagram account because he was unable to "let this stuff distract from my family and my work".

Concluding his post, Keoghan asked people to be "respectful to all".

Just weeks before they parted ways, Carpenter talked about Keoghan during an interview on CBS Sunday Morning.

On her decision to cast him in her “Please Please Please” music video, she said that they were looking for "greatest actor" to feature in it and "he (Keoghan) was next to me in a chair. And he was so excited about it!”
