S.W.A.T. Season 9: Can Shemar Moore’s latest appeal secure the show a new home?

Fans of S.W.A.T. remain hopeful that the series will find a new home, ensuring the action-packed drama continues for a ninth season.

The fate of S.W.A.T. remains uncertain as CBS has canceled the popular action drama for a third time. Lead actor Shemar Moore, however, is making a strong case for the series’ revival, reaching out to both CBS and potential streaming platforms such as Netflix in a bid to secure a ninth season.

Moore’s Plea to CBS and Fans

Taking to social media, Moore addressed the cancellation in an emotional Instagram video on March 6. “I said I wasn’t going to do this, but I can’t help it,” he stated.

“I’m going to do it because it’s who I am. It’s how my mama raised me: Own your dignity, tell the truth.”

Moore recalled how CBS had previously reversed its decision to cancel S.W.A.T., allowing the series to continue despite earlier announcements. “Un-canceled twice, two years in a row,” he emphasized.

“How many shows can say that? We did that. We defied the odds and made a hit television show that audiences worldwide love.”

Expressing gratitude to CBS, Moore acknowledged the network’s role in his career, spanning shows like The Young and the Restless and Criminal Minds before S.W.A.T.

“CBS, I know it’s about money, optics, politics. I don’t think you’re making the right choice, but if you are done, I still say thank you,” he said, as quoted in a report by TV Insider.

“Thank you for the honor, thank you for the opportunity, thank you for the ride. But if you change your mind, I promise you, you’ll make a lot of people smile.”

Pitching to Netflix and Other Networks

With CBS appearing to move on, Moore turned his attention to streaming giants and rival networks.

“Hey, Netflix, how you doing?” he said, highlighting S.W.A.T.’s past success on the platform.

“Let me just remind you that in a very short period of time, once upon a time ago, we climbed from number 15 to number one. Then we stayed in your top 10, top 15 for about six months, nine months, maybe a year.”

Extending his outreach beyond Netflix, Moore also addressed NBC, Fox, and ABC.

“Hey, you want to come flirt with me? You’re invited to the barbecue. Pick your favorite restaurant—I will pay the bill,” he joked.

“All of us, the S.W.A.T. family, we ain’t done chasing bad guys, helicopter chases, motorcycle chases, car chases, and blowing up stuff. We ain’t done.”

Will S.W.A.T. Find a New Home?

Despite its latest cancellation, S.W.A.T. remains a strong contender for a potential revival.

Its dedicated fan base and proven track record in ratings could make it a viable option for streaming platforms or rival networks looking to capitalize on an already successful formula.
