The video game 'Counter-Strike: Global Offensive' has seen a considerable drop in its number of gamers from Russia. Many think that the reason behind this is the military mobilization imposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin telecasted his pre-recorded speech on a Russian news channels announcing a ‘partial or semi mobilization’ of close to 300,000 reservists. The decision was made to support the war of Russia in Ukraine.

It is no surprise that this news of mobilization shocked much of the young Russian population. If reports are to be believed, many youngsters are also on the run to flee the country. The declaration of the decision has seemed to cause a lot of chaos and distress among many Russians.

FAQs:

  1. Is there proof of the decrement of players?
Sometime after the announcement was made, the video game company Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, popularly known as CS: GO, reported that the number of gamers had declined substantially in the past day.According to the news of the gaming website Leetify, CS: GO has 11.65 per cent of Russian gamers. This information seals all the doubts regarding the relationship between Russian mobilization and the decrease in the number of players. Another platform called Stream Charts, which analyses the number of gamers for various games, recorded that just after a few hours of the announcement, the number of people who played CS: GO reduced massively, much of whom were Russians.
  2. What is the player drop number?
The decline in gamer numbers is approximately 300,000. Another point of consideration is that the people, who played the game usually fell into the 19–30 age category, and the military age in Russia is also the same. This is not the first time that the real-world-related military activities of Russia have affected the number of players of video games, including CS: GO players. After Russia invaded the territories of Ukraine, a large population of gamers was angered as some of the players in Russia used the English alphabet Z in their gaming stickers, the reason behind which is still unknown.
