Russia-Ukraine war: Fighting will abate during winter, claims US intelligence
Russia-Ukraine war: In a daily analysis, experts at the Institute for the Study of War presented a different picture and questioned if the harsh winter weather would allow for a higher pace of operations as the season changed.

Russia, the aggressor nation, had lost more than half of the territory it had seized by the time the war in Ukraine entered its ninth month. The director stated that most of the fighting is currently happening near the eastern Ukrainian cities at a defence forum in California. She claimed that fighting had subsided after Russia's fallback from the west of the Kherson region last month. According to the US intelligence director, the country's intelligence agency believes that the Russian President does not fully understand the difficulty facing his country's military.
However, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) analysts painted a different outlook in a daily review, questioning whether the extreme winter conditions could permit a higher rate of operations as winter starts. The Institute cited Serhiy Haidai's remarks, who noted that the climate in the eastern Donbas region was changing as winter conditions descended. On the other hand, on Saturday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for a price limit imposed by his Western allies on Russian oil exports that were not strict enough to harm the Russian economy.
