Russia-Ukraine: Germany is sending Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv despite Moscow warning

Germany has decided to supply 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine notwithstanding threats from Russia, according to a Sky report. Germany's move came after, Ukraine sought help from western countries to fight Moscow's military power.

Apart from this, Germany has given permission to its allies countries to supply tanks to Kyiv. Now countries like Spain and Poland, which have NATO-standard tank, can supply them to Ukraine if the respective governments decide to do so, as per the Sky report.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he was happy and thankful. However, Zelenskyy has claimed that quality of the vehicle and delivery time would be 'critical', as per the report.



Moscow had already sent stern message to Berlin that the move to send tanks will not augur well for "future relations". The Russian embassy in Berlin also termed the Germany's decision as 'escalation' and "extremely dangerous".

Moscow has also said that if US authorizes the move, then it would be deemed as provocation.

According to reports, this will be first time since World War II, German tanks are set to fight on European soil.
