Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova sparked a controversial comment on Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s tense meeting with US president Donald Trump on Friday, as per a report.

Russia mocks Ukrainian president

Zakharova took to Telegram, mocking Zelensky and commenting that it was a "miracle" that Trump and vice president JD Vance "didn't punch this scumbag," as quoted by US Express.

In her post, Zakharova expressed her curiosity on how Trump and Vance had managed to restrain themselves during the heated exchange, adding that Zelensky's biggest lie was the assertion that the Kyiv regime had been left unsupported by the US in 2022, reported US Express.

The spokeswoman's remark came after Trump asked Zelensky to leave the White House, reported US Express. According to reports, the Ukrainian leader had a fiery confrontation with Trump and Vance, which led to the abrupt end of the meeting and Zelensky’s early departure from the White House.

Zelensky’s plea to stay

As per US Express' sources, Zelensky pleaded with Trump to remain at the White House to sort things out, but Trump dismissed him. Even a planned lunch between the two leaders, was instead consumed by White House staff, according to a White House official.

Zelensky’s delegation had planned to sign a minerals agreement during a joint press conference, but they were quickly escorted out after the clash. As per reports, Zelensky’s armored vehicle arrived hastily at the West Wing entrance shortly after Trump posted on Truth Social.
