Taylor Swift has been named TIME's Person of the Year 2023, joining the ranks of influential figures. Beyond her musical prowess and business acumen, Swift reveals another side to her persona—a fitness legend preparing for "The Eras Tour."

Swift's blockbuster tour spans 151 shows across five continents, featuring a 44-song setlist. The 33-year-old artist takes on an athletic feat, singing, dancing, and strutting across a football field-length stage for over 3.5 hours, all while donning custom Christian Louboutin heels representing different eras of her career.

"Every day I would run on the treadmill, singing the entire set list out loud," Swift told TIME. "Fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs."

"I wanted to get it in my bones," Swift explained. "I wanted to be so over-rehearsed that I could be silly with the fans, and not lose my train of thought."

"Learning choreography is not my strong suit," she added.

Taylor Swift's training regimen for Era's tour

To prepare for the tour, Swift underwent an intensive six-month training regimen at Dogpound, a celebrity-filled gym in NYC. Her routine involved running on a treadmill while singing the entire setlist, combining fast runs for energetic songs and a jog or fast walk for slower tunes. The plan included weight lifting, strength training, and three months of dance training.

No alcohol on tour

In her dedication to the performance, Swift abstained from alcohol throughout the tour, with a humorous exception at the 2023 Grammy Awards. She recognized the challenges of performing with a hangover and aimed to maintain peak performance.

Post-show recovery

Swift acknowledged the toll her performances take on her body, committing to a full day of rest and recovery after each tour stop. During these recovery days, she revels in the dream scenario of staying in bed, emphasizing the importance of preserving her strength for the demanding tour schedule.
