Robert Downey Jr's beef with Mark Ruffalo: Here’s what happened between the two Avengers

At the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War, Mark Ruffalo snubbed his co-stars who were getting inked. This did not go down well with Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. Here are the full details.

It seems Oppenheimer star and former Iron Man Robert Downey Jr. still has some beef with his Avengers co-star Mark Ruffalo. The reason is behind an incident that happened a few years ago. Here’s what we know!

It so happened that during the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, the main cast of the film, including Robert Downey Jr., was getting tattoos related to the film.

Actor Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow in Avengers, had an idea that everyone should get matching ‘Avengers’ tattoos for posterity.

Actors Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans agreed to do so, and so did Downey Jr. However, Mark Ruffalo did not agree. He remains the only member of the original Avengers team without an identical tattoo.

Downey Jr. still remembers the snub by Ruffalo. He even told his Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan during The WIRED’s Autocomplete interview that he had tried his best to convince Ruffalo but to no avail.

Downey has six tattoos on him. He revealed in the interview that his sixth tattoo was the Avengers one. He went on to recall the entire incident.

“I have six. That’s the sixth one and that was the Avengers cast tattoo that happened the evening of the premiere for Infinity War. Scarlett got it first, then Chris Evans got it, then I got it, then Jeremy Renner got it, then Chris Hemsworth got it, even though he was a little tentative about it and seemed to overreact to the pain.”

Speaking about Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr. whined, “And then Mark Ruffalo said, ‘I’m not getting that tattoo. I don’t wanna be part of your Hollywood inside game,’ to which I applauded him. F*** you, Mark!”

Mark Ruffalo aka The Hulk now feels a little left out of the Avengers team as far as the tattoo is concerned. The actor had revealed in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that he was, in fact, afraid of needles

Mark Ruffalo explained, “I didn’t get a tattoo. I opted out of the tattoo. It’s not over yet. There’s still another movie! (speaking of Endgame) First of all, I’m afraid of needles. So, there’s that.”

He went on to add that he wanted to act all punk rock and rebellious. “I’ve kind of got a punk rock soul. And I felt like, ‘Dude, everyone has tattoos. I’m going to be punk rock and not get the tattoo! That’s radical, right? That is so rebellious!”

But Mark Ruffalo could just get the Avengers tattoo one day, since he feels the FOMO.
