Rob Reiner’s son Nick allegedly wrecked parents’ guest house and stole money in teen scandal
Nick Reiner, the son of filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, is being held on a criminal charge connected with their deaths as investigators continue analyzing the case. In previous years, Nick openly spoke about a history of addiction, relaps...

Open Struggles With Addiction
Nick was candid over the years about his battles with substance abuse and recovery, frequently being present on the Dopey podcast, a program hosted by Dave Manheim that concentrates on real-life experiences with addiction. During many episodes, Nick explained moments from his past that demonstrated how severe his substance use was.Guesthouse Incident Recalled
In one 2018 appearance, Nick remembered an explosive episode occurred after his parents told him he could no longer stay in a guesthouse on their property. Initially, he downplayed the incident, remarking, "It's not much of a story," and adding that he no longer remembered "the specifics of it."Destruction While Under the Influence
As Manheim pressed for information, Nick went on to explain the destruction he made while under the impact of stimulants. "I went 10 rounds with my guesthouse... I got totally spun out on uppers, I think it was coke and something else and I was up for days on end. I started punching out different things in my guest house... I think I started with the TV and went over to the lamp, everything in the guest house got wrecked... I literally punched the TV."Just moments earlier in that episode, Nick had spoken about relapsing into heroin use, explaining the experience as scary. He contrasted that with stimulant use, describing that on drugs such as cocaine, "you're crazy," and that there is "no logic" directing behavior.
Disturbing Teenage Confession
In a separate 2017 episode, Nick recounted a disturbing incident from his teenage years, remembering how he stole money from his parents to pay for time with a sex worker. "I was like 15 or something, and I went on to [Craigslist], and I was just looking at the different profiles." He described that after choosing one listing, he contacted and said to the woman, "'Some kid that I met at outpatient rehab told me you could do this.'"Nick cited, "I was about 14 or something, and her going rate was about $200... I got $200 from my parents," which he got by "[sneaking] into where I knew the money was, like the Pink Panther." He remembered meeting the woman, trying to kiss her, and realizing "she didn't want that." According to Nick, the encounter concluded after "went on a walk," followed by a brief sexual experience before "she left." Reflecting afterward, he stated, "Then I was like, 'That was awesome. I kind of felt like s---. But I was like, 'That's awesome.'"
Discomfort With Fame and Wealth
The year before,, Nick appeared on another Dopey episode in which he talked more personally about growing up as the son of a popular filmmaker and the grandson of comedy star Carl Reiner. He made it clear that he never felt comfortable being connected with fame or wealth, citing, "I never wanted to identify with my father, with money, or being judged on any of that stuff. I don't care. It's never done it for me to brag about that stuff. It makes me uncomfortable."Ongoing Investigation
Officials state that Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered dead on Sunday in what investigators are considering as a double homicide. Their 28-year-old daughter, Romy Reiner, reportedly found their bodies. Nick was later located and taken into custody at almost 9:15 p.m. that evening and remains in the Los Angeles Police Department as the investigation continues.FAQs:
