The long wait for the Rhode Island Common Assessment System (RICAS) score from the RI education department is finally out. The national trend report of RI reveals that student performance still needs to be recovered. The scores do not match pre-pandemic levels. Another sad news is the National Assessment for Educational Progress stated that the gains in student scores diminished, and the gains were wiped out because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The RICAS test scores impact the governor's race in Rhode Island. The Republican challenger Ashley Kalus accuses Dan McKee as he did this without the test results until the scheduled elections were completed.

The RICAS scores were scheduled to be out by November 10, 2022. McKee expressed frustration as the state-wide scores were released before the promised date. The questions posed by the reporter Ed Fitzpatrick were equally annoying to the governor.
