Elvis Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley died on January 12, 2023, and at the time, her cause of death was thought to be cardiac arrest or an overdose. However, Lisa Marie Presley's autopsy report has revealed the real cause of her death.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office, Lisa Marie Presley’s cause of death was from complications of a ‘small bowel obstruction’. Here are the details of her autopsy.

Lisa Marie Presley’s autopsy report was obtained by CNN, and it had comments by deputy medical examiner Dr Juan M Carrillo, who revealed the findings.


Lisa Marie Presley died due to "adhesions (or scar tissue) that developed after bariatric surgery years ago. This is a known long-term complication of this type of surgery," said Dr Carrillo.

Were there any drugs involved?

Dr Carrillo revealed the autopsy toxicology results, which showed oxycodone in Lisa Marie Presley’s blood, but those were of "therapeutic levels", said the doctor.

Other medicines like the antidepressant quetiapine metabolite and the painkiller buprenorphine were also present in her blood, but these were "not contributory to death", the doctor confirmed.

Dr Carrillo confirmed that there was "no evidence of injury or foul play". He concluded that the "manner of death is deemed natural".

Lisa Marie Presley was an American singer-songwriter and the only child of rock legend Elvis Presley and actor Priscilla Presley.

She died in Los Angeles and was buried beside her father at Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee.
